Have you ever wanted to learn more about Sheffield’s history? Why not start with a fascinating glimpse into Sheffield’s Victorian past on our guided tour of this Grade II* listed historic Cemetery. Meet the residents who shaped Sheffield’s history, from Mark Firth and Samuel Holberry to the Cole Brothers and George Bassett, and many more. Discover the stories behind some of our 87,000 burials, see the French-inspired catacombs and the listed monuments & structures including the recently restored Samuel Worth Chapel, in this unique and historic Victorian landscaped ‘Garden Cemetery’.

Event starts at The Gatehouse, top of Cemetery Avenue, Sheffield, S11 8NT.

Our café and bookstall will be open at the Samuel Worth Chapel from 11.30am to 2pm – purchases by cash, debit/credit card or phone app (e.g. Google Pay, Apple Pay).

Tickets for this event are non-refundable. However, If for any reason the event is cancelled by SGCT, we will refund your ticket. If you have bought a ticket but are unable to attend the event, please contact [email protected] so we can try to reallocate it.

This is a SGCT volunteer led fundraising event for Sheffield General Cemetery Trust and proceeds go to fund the charitable aims of the Trust.

FAQs
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
No minimum age but the tour is aimed at adults and is more suitable for children aged over 11. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No need to bring your ticket – we shall have your name on a list and you can be checked in when you arrive.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
On street parking on and around Cemetery Avenue close to the Gatehouse entrance. Nearest bus stops are on Ecclesall Road – Collegiate Crescent stop.
