Cost: £8.50 + Booking fee
Type: Guided Tour , History & Heritage
Was Sheffield once a confectionery town? The answer lies hidden in the stories of those buried in Sheffield General Cemetery.
As part of our 190th birthday celebrations, join Sweet Remembrance author and volunteer Andrew Littlewood for a fascinating walking tour exploring the graves connected to Sheffield’s rich confectionery past. From pioneering sweet-makers to the people behind well-known names, uncover a lesser-known chapter of local history and how it shaped the UK confectionery industry.
After the tour, join us in the Samuel Worth Chapel for a complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate or soft drink. Our café, bookstall and People Power exhibition will be open from 10.00am-4.00pm, and our books will be available to purchase on the day or online beforehand, including Sweet Remembrance – The Confectioners of Sheffield General Cemetery upon which this tour is based.
