Tales of the Faeries: Lust, Loss and Hollow Hills

Step into a world of myth, mischief and magic with Tales of the Faeries: Lust, Loss and Hollow Hills– an evening of adult storytelling and live music in the atmospheric surrounds of the Samuel Worth Chapel.

Join storyteller Graeme Cooke (Tales of Britain and Ireland) for an evening of tales of the ‘Good’ Folk, with music from Alice Nicholls.

Expect all your usual folkloric fare – fiddle music, liminality, tales of mischief and myth and very thorough housework. With nary a gossamer wing in sight. Iron will be provided. Please turn your own clothes inside out.

Tales drawn from British and Irish Folklore and Myth, all told with humour, wandering asides and above all else a great love for the stories.

Reviews of Tales of Britain and Ireland podcast:

“Modern storytelling at its best, with cinematic scene-setting and moments of genuine tension.”

“Storytelling for today. Quirky, clever, and so entertaining. If I had a castle, I would happily pay to keep this teller of tales at my hearth for the winter.”

“Graeme has managed to make old British folk tales accessible without losing the original meaning.”

“Alice Nicholls is a multi-instrumentalist musician, composer and songwriter based in Leeds. Originally a classical violinist who turned to the dark side of folk music, she now plays around with as many different instruments and genres as she can, delighting audiences and annoying purists with her innovative sound.”
