Sheffield Palestine Cultural Exchange Fundraiser

Vocal legend Rosie Brown is accompanied by celebrated pianist and composer Naadia Sheriff in a jazz and singer-songwriter set.
FJT (Pete Jones, sax, Graham Oldroyd, guitar, and Kate Whitaker, double bass) came together to make a strong connection between music and human rights and perform inspiring, melodic pieces from the modern jazz and Latin repertoires (including Coltrane, ‘Mankunku’ Ngozi, Gato Barbieri). They are joined on percussion by Errol Francis, veteran of Sheffield jazz and longstanding member of the renowned Montuno.
SPaCE (Sheffield Palestine Cultural Exchange) raises money to support projects in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, including Gaza, that work to improve the lives and mental health of young people and children – needed now even more than ever. These include Never Stop Dreaming and the Qayis Psychological and Community Support Centre which provide educational activities (with fun and games), a Mobile Library and psychological support. SPaCE has also recently funded a new project, by Vanguard Media in Gaza, to allow children to relate their own stories through video ‘junior journalism’.
