Danny Lowndes Hot Club brings the infectious energy of gypsy jazz and swing to the Samuel Worth Chapel, led by guitarist Danny Lowndes, whose musical journey spans decades and genres.

Danny first picked up the guitar at the age of 10, inspired by the rock ’n’ roll and rhythm and blues records his parents loved, including Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles. As a teenager, he fell under the spell of blues legends such as BB King, Albert King, Albert Collins and Buddy Guy, playing his first gigs by the age of 14. Over time, his interests expanded to rock, funk and reggae, before discovering a lasting passion for jazz, swing and the music of Django Reinhardt, which continues to shape his sound today.

Danny has performed extensively across the UK and Europe, appearing at prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall, L’Elysée Montmartre in Paris and the Grand Auditorium Louis Lumière in Cannes. He has been featured on BBC Radio 1Xtra, BBC Radio Sheffield, and recorded sessions at BBC Maida Vale Studios.

He is joined by an accomplished ensemble: Chris Lloyd on accordion and keys (Louis Louis Louis, King Zepha), Bryan Day on rhythm guitar (Richard Hawley, Tanita Tikaram), and Mike Fleming on bass from Sheffield’s long-running swing band The Dizzy.

Expect an evening of virtuosic musicianship, swinging rhythms and timeless jazz, brought to life in the unique surroundings of the Samuel Worth Chapel.
