Cemetery Sessions Present Liz Hanks and Manon McCoy

Liz Hanks – Based on the local and natural history of her neighbourhood in Sheffield, Liz Hanks’ ‘Land’ album (Hudson Records) explores both the loss of nature in the urban environment and forgotten natural worlds. She discovered that the now urban area of Meersbrook was once a beautiful valley called ‘Rush Dale’. Inspired by reading written accounts of this lost valley she created ‘Land’ in remembrance of these lost times and places.

Manon McCoy(she/her) is an experimental harpist and composer based in the North. Her work is focused on pushing the boundaries of contemporary harp through developing DIY and accessible approaches to live-electronics. Manon is particularly interested in the uses of spaces both musical and physical, designing pieces that rework the performer-audience dynamic. She performs in Sheffield-based duo ‘Balo’ who create site-specific installations for harp drums and electronics. Manon is also member of Emergence Collective.
