Harp & a Monkey Perform: War Stories

Type: History & Heritage , Music
We are delighted to announce a special matinee performance of War Stories by the award-winning folk trio Harp and a Monkey in the evocative setting of the Samuel Worth Chapel this Remembrance Sunday.
Originally commissioned by the Arts Council and the Western Front Association to mark the centenary of World War I, War Stories combines sound recordings of those who lived through the conflict with traditional and original songs exploring lesser-known aspects of the Great War. The performance also features wall projections and humorous yet poignant storytelling by frontman Martin Purdy – a respected World War I historian and author.
This unique show is only performed in full a handful of times each year, making this a rare opportunity to experience why it has continued to receive huge critical acclaim since its debut, and why organisations such as the Commonwealth War Graves Commission regularly invite the trio to perform at their sites.
