Join us for a thrilling night of wildlife, horror, and vintage cinema in the gothic surroundings of the Samuel Worth Chapel. We’ll have a selection of local craft beers and soft drinks available from our bar throughout the evening – perfect for sipping as the bats swoop and the story unfolds. Choose from the following Bat Walk & Film, Horror Walk & Film, or Film Only options:

Bat Walk & Film
Begin your evening with a guided Bat Walk through the grounds at dusk, where our expert team will help you spot and ‘listen’ for bats using detectors, as they swoop through the trees hunting insects. Learn about the lives of these fascinating nocturnal creatures and their importance in the UK’s ecosystem. Then settle in for a screening of the 1940 cult classic The Devil’s Bat, where Bela Lugosi plays a vengeful chemist unleashing mutated bats on his enemies.

Horror Walk & Film
Join historian and horror guide Dr Laura Alston who will take you on a spooky walk around the Cemetery to find out about some of the mishaps, mysteries and ghoulish tales to be found in Sheffield General Cemetery. Then settle in for a screening of the 1940 cult classic The Devil’s Bat, where Bela Lugosi plays a vengeful chemist unleashing mutated bats on his enemies.
