Have you ever wanted to learn more about Sheffield’s history? Why not start with a fascinating glimpse into Sheffield’s Victorian past on our guided tour of this Grade II* listed historic cemetery. Meet the residents who shaped Sheffield’s history, from Mark Firth and Samuel Holberry to the Cole Brothers and George Bassett, and many more. Discover the stories behind some of our 87,000 burials, see the French-inspired catacombs and the listed monuments & structures including the recently restored Samuel Worth Chapel, in this unique and historic Victorian landscaped ‘Garden Cemetery’.
Our café and bookstall will be open at the Samuel Worth Chapel until 4.00pm – purchases can be made by cash or debit/credit card or phone app (e.g. Google Pay, Apple Pay).
Event Starts at The Gatehouse, top of Cemetery Avenue, Sheffield, S11 8NT.
Path Access – Please be aware that as the uplift works on site progress, path access will be more restricted than usual. In order to allow groups to be safely conducted around the site, each tour will be limited to a maximum of 12 attendees.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
No minimum age but the tour is aimed at adults and is more suitable for children aged over 11.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No need to bring your ticket – we will have your name on a list and you will be checked in when you arrive.
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
On street parking on and around Cemetery Avenue close to the Gatehouse entrance. Nearest bus stops are on Ecclesall Road – Collegiate Crescent stop.
